Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 6, 2025

Dia Key is a personal journaling application created by Mark Gregan ("we", "us", or "our"). Your privacy is foundational to the design of the App: your data stays within the Apple ecosystem and under your control. We do not operate our own servers or collect data for ourselves. When you choose to store entries in iCloud, the data is synchronized using your Apple ID and encrypted and managed by Apple.

1. Data We Collect

The App itself does not collect personal data on our behalf. The content you create and store within the App (such as journal entries, attachments, and settings) remains on your device or, if you enable iCloud, within your iCloud account. We do not receive, access, or process this content.

2. How Your Data Is Used

Your data is used solely to provide App functionality (e.g., creating, viewing, and organizing entries). If you enable iCloud syncing through your Apple ID, your data is transmitted and stored with Apple to make your content available across your devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This iCloud processing is fully managed by Apple.

3. Storage

Your data is stored locally on the device where you use the App. If you enable iCloud, iCloud Drive stores a copy of your data encrypted in transit and at rest on Apple’s servers so it can sync across your devices. You can manage local storage, iCloud usage, backups, and deletions through your device and iCloud settings.

4. No Third‑Party Services

The App does not use third‑party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or other external services. When you enable iCloud, data leaves your device only to sync with Apple’s iCloud service under your Apple ID. Usage of iCloud is subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policy (see apple.com/legal/privacy/).

5. Your Choices and Controls

6. Security

Your data benefits from the security of your device. If iCloud is enabled, Apple encrypts your data in transit and at rest according to its security standards. While we design the App to operate privately within the Apple ecosystem, no system can be completely secure. Protect your device with a strong passcode, keep your software up to date, and review your iCloud settings regularly.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), please do not use the App.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Policy.

9. Contact

If you have questions about this Policy, please refer to the App’s listing on the App Store or the information available at diakey.app.
